A Small Agency Solution to Performing Body-Worn Camera Audits

Technology continues to rapidly change the law enforcement landscape in Minnesota. More agencies, large and small, are deploying body-worn cameras (or considering their deployment) to gather crucial evidence and enhance transparency with their communities. But with the benefits of body-worn cameras, comes significant financial challenges.

Beyond the infrastructure costs, the high price tag for comprehensive audits (required by statute) have prevented agencies and city councils from purchasing the technology, forced them to discontinue usage of the technology or, at the very least, made them think twice about the long-term return on the investment. These challenges are particularly great for the small agencies in our state.

The MCPA is always looking for ways to provide solutions for our members, and we’re pleased to share that Rampart Defense, LLC provides body worn camera audits for large and small agencies.

Rampart Defense LLC is certified by the Secretary of State to do auditing business in Minnesota. We also carry our own business liability insurance.

While time commitments will vary by agency, we estimate that most departments will be able to compile and submit the information necessary to complete the audit in 1 - 2 business days. Depending on the size of the agency, most site visits average 4 hours or less to complete. Our base rate starts at $1,500.00 for departments with up to 5 body cameras, with a fee of $150 for each additional camera. Mileage and incidentals are also added to the invoice. Upon completion of the audit, you will receive a full report and certificate of completion. We also provide “large department” discounts on a case by case basis.
