Susan Hansen, partner in the Law Firm of Madden, Galanter and Hansen LLP serves as one of Minnesota’s busiest and most successful labor attorneys.  Ms. Hansen represented the City of Chaska in the landmark arbitration case which upheld the termination of a 14 year Chaska Police Officer.  The Arbitrator found that the police officer “relied on racial and ethnic stereotypes as factors in selecting where to engage in stationary patrol and whom to stop and search”.  Ms. Hansen will provide an overview of this investigation and arbitration decision as well as review the legal framework, other real-world examples and lessons to be learned for law enforcement and law enforcement executives.  This course will provide the law enforcement executive awareness and enhanced understanding of this critical issues that continues to challenge law enforcement agencies in our approach to 21st Century policing.
